The 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee is excited to announce the launch of their official volunteer program for the Republican National Convention.
The 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee will recruit, train and manage over 7,500 volunteers to be the faces of Tampa Bay during the week of the 2012 Republican National Convention. Volunteers will welcome guests at local airports and hotels throughout the area, as well as support Host Committee programs and a variety of events during the year leading up to the convention.
“We want to thank our Tampa Bay community for their support and participation,” said Ken Jones, President and CEO of the 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee. “We are thrilled by the tremendous response from people who want to volunteer and help us showcase Tampa Bay.”
“Volunteers will help greet the thousands of visitors who will descend on Tampa Bay in August of 2012,” said Amanda Whitelaw, Director of Events and Volunteers. “They will be on the front lines promoting Tampa Bay to the 50,000 people who will come to our region for the Republican National Convention.”
Each volunteer will select only one volunteer type. No volunteer opportunities are available inside of the Tampa Bay Times Forum or Tampa Convention Center. No credentials or tickets will be made available to volunteers. Volunteers must be 18 years of age by June 2012. A driver’s license or government issued photo ID is required. Volunteers must agree to a background check.
Host Committee volunteers are non-partisan and have no political mission or affiliation with any political party. The mission of the volunteer program is to represent Tampa Bay.
