The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce was announced as a recipient of one of Enterprise Florida’s 2012-2013 Defense Reinvestment Grants (DRG).  Eleven Florida communities with military installations will collectively receive $850,000, the Chamber was awarded $75,000.  The Chamber’s application was for a multi-organizational grant.  For the first time, the Chamber is partnering with the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation and the Tampa Bay Defense Alliance to bring valuable support to MacDill Air Force Base and local defense-oriented industries in Tampa and Hillsborough County through economic development, advocacy, business climate enhancement and increasing regional synergy. Funding from the DRG will support a number of efforts that the organizations have identified as key to the growth of our local defense oriented industries and support for MacDill Air Force Base. “Supporting MacDill Air Force Base, our service members and veterans is a top priority for the Chamber and has been a mainstay of our efforts dating back to MacDill’s establishment.  We are pleased to work with the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation and the Tampa Bay Defense Alliance to positively impact our local economy by supporting our military,” said Bob Rohrlack, President & CEO of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce.
