TAMPA, Fla. – The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bob Rohrlack released this statement following Governor Rick Scott signing the state budget: “On behalf of our 1,200 members in Tampa and across the Tampa Bay region, I want to thank Governor Scott for signing the State Budget and approving the major projects that were a priority for our members in 2014. I also want to thank our members and Legislators for making the case to the Governor that supporting our hospitals, ports and cultural facilities is a critical tool for economic development in Florida,” said Rohrlack. Among the items approved by the Governor was $5 million for the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine; a gantry crane for Port Tampa Bay; funding for the Florida Conservation and Technology Center; and funding for the MOSI Tech and STEAM Showcase. “Advocacy is a cornerstone of the Chamber’s work and our Policy Council worked hard this year to ensure that the voice of our membership was heard during the legislative process.  We would like to especially thank the Hillsborough County Legislative Delegation for their support during session and look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen our local business community,” said Chamber Chair Robin DeLaVergne.
