The 2016 Legislative Session began in Tallahassee today. Both Speaker Crisafulli and Senate President Gardiner opened session with their goals for the next 60 days. Among those goals, were pledges to pass and send to Governor Scott this week a comprehensive statewide water policy bill as well as a bill to protect Floridians with unique abilities.
Highlighted in their opening remarks, both the Speaker and the Senate President discussed other issues that will be heard on the floor during session, including tax cuts, support for economic development in Florida, and increased support for K-12 education.
Governor Scott also presented the State of the State address where he discussed his goals for 2016, which include tax cuts including the reduction of sales tax on commercial leases, economic development incentives, and the importance of protecting the safety of all Floridians.
