Tampa International Airport secured three new airlines in the past year further expanding the capabilities of our business community here in Tampa Bay.
In May 2021 Breeze Airways launched service at TPA and made Tampa Bay its inaugural U.S. market. The U.S. carrier introduced itself as a "Seriously Nice" carrier from the JetBlue founder David Neelman. The airline has 39 nonstop routes between 16 cities in the Southwest, Midwest, Southeast, and Eastern United States. Flights are now on sale at www.flybreeze.com and the Breeze app, with flights starting at $39 one way.
In November 2021 Avelo Airlines greeted its first passengers on a flight from Tampa on a never-before-served route to New Haven, Connecticut. For Tampa travelers, it offers another option to visit the Northeast tri-state area and another nonstop flight to the greater New York City region. The airline was founded by Andrew Levy, a former Chief Financial Officer at United Airlines and co-founder of Allegiant Air, seeking to "inspire travel through everyday low fares." The service operates Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, now bookable through www.aveloair.com.
Finally, in December 2021, Lufthansa Group's new leisure airline, Eurowings Discover, launched it's first U.S. flight between Tampa to Frankfurt and its inaugural U.S. service at TPA. This flight provides the region's first direct service to the European Union since the pandemic began in 2020. Tampa will have 4 nonstop flights to Frankfurt each week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights can be booked online at lufthansa.com and eurowings.com.
