The Tampa Bay Chamber announced that the Minority Empowerment Program will run for another year thanks to the local businesses sponsoring the program. The sponsors include the founding sponsor of the program AT&T, as well as Amgen, Bank of America, Moffitt Cancer Center, Nielsen, Regions Bank and the Whiting Turning Contracting Company. The Minority Empowerment Program will provide one-year, top-tier chamber memberships to Black and Hispanic-owned businesses and nonprofits that are not already chamber members.
Applications are currently open on the Tampa Bay Chamber website, and interested Black or Hispanic-owned businesses or nonprofits can apply for the program here: https://www.tampabaychamber.com/forms/minority-empowerment-program-application/
Applications for the 2023 Minority Empowerment Program are due by Thursday, December 15th. The program participants accepted into the program will have a Chamber membership that runs from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023.
The Minority Empowerment Program was designed to foster greater diversity, equity, and inclusion across the local business community. By welcoming more businesses and nonprofits into chamber membership, the Tampa Bay Chamber will be better positioned to listen to the input, and represent the perspectives, of Black and Hispanic-owned organizations that are vital to the economic and social health of the Tampa Bay area. The result will be a more inclusive and equitable approach toward business growth and community engagement throughout the region, while also connecting more businesses with Chamber resources for growth.
“This is an incredibly impactful program of the Tampa Bay Chamber, focused on bringing more leaders and perspectives to the table. After two successful years of leading this program, we are excited for the companies who will be accepted into the program for 2023, because we know that they’ll be receiving an experience focused on their professional and personal growth, said Dr. Bob Rohrlack, President & CEO of the Tampa Bay Chamber.
The Minority Empowerment Program recently released 2022 Minority Empower Program Impact Report that highlighted the successes from the year for program participants. The report can be found here: https://www.tampabaychamber.com/blog/2022/11/09/minority-business-accelerator/mep-2022-impact-report/
