Workforce Development Interview Series: Throughout the month of April, we continue to spotlight local businesses and organizations in the arena of workforce development. From the CEO suite to classrooms in high schools and colleges, Chamber members are taking a tactical approach to recruitment and retainment at every level, including middle skill jobs - one of the fastest growing segments of the workforce in Tampa Bay. Middle skill jobs require industry credentials or certifications – more than a high school diploma but less than a 4-year college degree. Last week we introduced you to Workforce Development Partners, Corp. and next, you’ll hear from the Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay, Hillsborough Community College’s Post Secondary Adult Vocational & Apprenticeship Program, the University of Tampa’s Career Services and CareerSource Tampa Bay.
Among our guests this month is Olivier Millour, representing Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay. The manager of Partnerships & Development at Junior Achievement is also the manager of Government Affairs at the Junior Achievement of Florida Foundation. Workforce development is a topic the young professional knows well, having served as Co-Chair of the Chamber’s Hub for Business group of Emerge from 2021- 2022. “I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that workforce development is one of most pressing issues of our time, both for our local community and our nation,” said Millour, who wants employers to know the Chamber member serves as an asset to the local business community. “Navigating the rapid changes we are constantly confronted with highlights the necessity for strategic partnerships that allow us to connect the right people to the right jobs, and to develop a sustainable talent pipeline for our community. I am honored to represent Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay's mission in this interview series as central to our efforts ensuring that our young people are aptly inspired, prepared, and connected to succeed in any career path they wish to pursue.”
