Title: Director, Advocacy

Reports to: Vice President, Advocacy
Location: Tampa, FL
Objective
This position is responsible for creating and executing strategies and tactics that are in alignment with the Vision 2026 plan and overseeing the program work for all the activities within advocacy and workforce development. The position will also provide support for the Chamber’s military initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Chamber’s Policy Advisory Committee and Workforce Development Committee. Provide support to the Military Advisory Committee as needed.
- Provide administrative support for the candidate interviews series.
- Provide assistance for the Chamber’s annual DC Fly-In and Tallahassee visits.
- Develop and execute the Public Policy Roundtable (2) events, the Work Redefined Series (4) events, and the Mayor’s Breakfast event.
- Provide support to the Chamber’s military events/initiatives as requested to include Operation Partnership, Military Spouse Program, and Welcome to Military Bay, USA.
- Monitor and research local, state, and federal issues that impact our community and provide written policy briefings.
- On occasion, may be asked to represent the Tampa Bay Chamber at governmental meetings.
- Work with the Chamber’s Communication Department to provide relevant policy & program updates for dissemination.
- Be responsible for any additional assignments and/or special projects given by the Vice President, Advocacy.
Relationships/Accountabilities
- Accountable to the Vice President, Advocacy to develop and execute all program deliverables.
- Responsible to meet and manage expectations of members, volunteers, and staff.
- Responsible for adherence to all Chamber policies and procedures.
- Works cooperatively and positively with all Chamber staff members and volunteers to promote an environment of excellence, teamwork, dignity, and respect.
- Exhibits a total commitment to maintaining high quality service standards of the Tampa Bay Chamber; demonstrates service excellence skills in dealing proactively with members, visitors, colleagues, and all Chamber contacts.
