The Tampa Bay Chamber’s annual Cannon Fire & Cocktails event returned this year with an unforgettable evening of football insights, community celebration, and a look ahead to an exciting season. Presented by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the event drew a packed audience eager to hear directly from the organization’s leadership, coaches, and players. The conversation opened with heartfelt reflections from the Glazer family, who shared memories of their earliest days walking the stadium steps with fans and how those moments shaped their passion for the franchise. That personal connection flowed naturally into more recent highlights like Mike Evans’ record-setting 1,000-yard receiving seasons; moments that underscored not just on-field success, but the pride and emotion felt across the entire Tampa Bay community.

Longtime Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David spoke about the mindset that has carried him through more than a decade in the league. His drive remains rooted in the same principles he had as a rookie: treating every season as if it’s his first and leading by example for younger teammates. Head Coach Todd Bowles and General Manager Jason Licht echoed this theme of resilience, highlighting both the continuity of veteran leadership and the exciting potential of a promising rookie class.

Panelists also discussed the team’s evolving identity. New defensive additions and the growth of the secondary were emphasized as key strengths, while continuity in offensive play-calling under coordinator Josh Grizzard was highlighted as a major advantage heading into the season. Quarterback Baker Mayfield spoke candidly about the pressures and motivations that fuel him, while center Graham Barton shared the pride the offensive line takes in protecting a leader they deeply respect.

This year’s Cannon Fire & Cocktails was not just about the future—it was also about honoring the past. With the Buccaneers celebrating their 50th anniversary season, the organization has launched a multi-part documentary series, throwback uniforms, and community storytelling projects to commemorate five decades of impact on and off the field. As Jason Licht put it, this milestone is about honoring the legacy of a team that has shaped Tampa Bay’s identity since 1976.

Beyond football, the evening reinforced what makes events like Cannon Fire & Cocktails so special: they bring together business leaders, fans, and community members to celebrate shared pride in Tampa Bay.
