Leadership Tampa Alumni gathered for an exclusive insider look at the momentum propelling one of our region’s greatest economic drivers — the University of South Florida. Hosted by LTA Chair Grace Maseda-Sainz, this year’s Chair’s Choice event featured two dynamic leaders shaping USF’s next era of innovation and growth: USF President Rhea Law and Senior Vice President of Advancement and Alumni Affairs and USF Foundation CEO  Jay Stroman.

President Law highlighted USF’s latest milestone, the launch of the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Computing. The first of its kind in Florida, this new college will influence every discipline across the university and accelerate innovation at a time when AI and digital security are reshaping industries worldwide.

Stroman expanded on how the USF Foundation is mobilizing support for the university’s ambitious path forward. From driving strategic investments to strengthening business partnerships, the Foundation fuels initiatives that elevate both student success and the region’s economic trajectory.

President Law highlighted USF’s prestigious invitation to join the Association of American Universities (AAU). With only 71 members nationwide, AAU designation places USF among the top 3% of research institutions and serves as a magnet for exceptional faculty, high-achieving students, and major research opportunities.

The discussion also gave LTA members an exciting preview of what’s ahead for USF — including the new on-campus stadium coming in Fall 2027. The stadium will expand campus facilities and serve as an economic contributor to the Tampa Bay Area.

Throughout the event, both leaders emphasized a shared vision: USF’s success is interwoven with that of the Tampa Bay region. Strong university–business partnerships, a vibrant talent pipeline, and a commitment to research and community impact are driving USF to new heights.

Special thanks to USF for hosting and sponsoring the event.
