Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Membership, the Member Relationship Manager plays a key role in expanding the Chamber’s membership base through targeted prospecting, new member acquisition, and new dues revenue generation. By building relationships with prospective and existing members, communicating value propositions, and aligning membership benefits to business needs, this position supports both growth and retention goals as part of the Chamber’s overall membership strategy.

Work Schedule and Environment

This position occasionally requires attendance at events and meetings held outside of standard business hours, including early mornings and evenings. Following the successful completion of a 90-day onboarding period, employees are eligible to participate in the Chamber’s flexible work model. This approach allows team members to work from home when not required to be onsite for in-person meetings, events, or other organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes sales strategies to prospect new members through inbound and outbound outreach.
  • Converts qualified leads and prospects into new Chamber members.
  • Closes sales and achieves individual membership growth and revenue goals.
  • Conducts needs-based conversations to align prospects with the appropriate Membership Level and benefits.
  • Identifies trends, pricing considerations, market opportunities, and targeted member segments.
  • Conducts research on industries to identify high-opportunity business sectors and growth markets.
  • Increases the Chamber’s visibility by attending community events, meetings, and partnership opportunities.
  • Builds and fosters relationships with business and community partners to expand referral networks and brand reach.
  • Promotes the Chamber brand and educates prospective members through outreach and partner engagement efforts.
  • Supports member retention efforts by identifying at-risk members and communicating value-based solutions.
  • Maintains accurate sales pipeline records and documentation in the Accrisoft.
  • Participates in Ribbon Cuttings and other public-facing member events.
  • Attends and participates in New Member Orientation sessions.
  • Attends and participates in Ambassador Committee Meetings
  • Attends and contributes to Chamber membership engagement events as assigned.
  • Works collaboratively and positively with all Chamber staff and volunteers to promote an environment of excellence.
  • Assists with Chamber programs and events, some of which occur outside normal working hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and client relationship management, preferably in the Tampa Bay area
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience and confidence to properly interact daily with Community Leaders
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Must conduct yourself in a professional manner
  • Ability to perform job functions and tasks with a minimum of daily supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a changing and fast-paced environment
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to learn and effectively and efficiently use Chamber database and sales CRM software as well as utilize AI platforms for market and company research
  • Committed to service excellence in all areas

Relationships/Accountabilities

  • Accountable to Senior Director, Membership to achieve all membership sales goals to include new member sales, existing member upgrades, renewals and retention goals.
  • Accountable to Members to ensure the greatest return on their investment/involvement
  • Accountable to achieving the goals spelled out in the Tampa Bay Chamber’s Strategic Plan and Vision Plan.
  • Works cooperatively and positively with all Chamber staff members and volunteers to promote an environment of excellence, teamwork, dignity and respect.
  • Exhibits a total commitment to maintaining high quality service standards of the Tampa Bay Chamber
  • Demonstrates service excellence skills in dealing proactively with members, visitors, colleagues, and all Chamber contacts.

Salary

  • This position offers a guaranteed base salary during the first six (6) months of employment. At the discretion of the organization and based on performance, the employee may transition sooner to a base salary plus uncapped commission plan.
