Friends of Tampa Union Station is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization with a primary purpose to preserve, protect, and promote Tampa Union Station, a fully operational train station and one of Tampa's “front doors”, as a community and historical asset.  Built in 1912, the historic station is the center of a growing and redeveloping five-district area of Tampa’s Downtown (GasWorx, Channel District, Water Street Tampa, the Central Business District, and Encore!). The publicly owned station is open 365 days per year, serving over 140,000 Amtrak rail passengers annually and standing ready to play a part in Tampa’s transportation future while telling the compelling story of a unique piece of Florida’s past.
