Certificates of Origin
Fee Schedule and Guidelines for Certificates of Origin
Certificates of Origin are international trade documents used to determine the origin of goods for official, commercial and financial reasons. The 1923 Geneva Convention named Chambers of Commerce the official body to issue, sign and stamp Certificates of Origin worldwide. These certificates are prepared by exporting companies (or their agents, known as freight forwarders) to show where their products were made.
The Tampa Bay Chamber no longer authenticates Certificates of Origin in-person or via email. All applications must be processed online.
The Tampa Bay Chamber has specific requirements for authentication of Certificates of Origin and other trade-related documents.
An Affidavit of U.S. or Non-U.S. Origin must accompany the Certificate of Origin and invoice or bill of lading. Please read the document in the requirements link below, in its entirety.
To download a generic Certificate of Origin, visit www.export.gov. Special certificates are needed for countries with which the United States has special trade agreements, such as NAFTA Certificates of Origin.
The U.S. Department of Commerce has prepared a basic guide to exporting. For information on preparing export documentation, including Certificates of Origin, see Chapter 10.
