Cortney Young, PT, DPT, MBA, is the Manager of Government Affairs for Tampa General Hospital (TGH). In this role, she supports initiatives that advance TGH’s mission and strategic priorities at the local, state, and federal levels. Cortney acts as a key resource on legislative changes and government requirements that affect the TGH health system enterprise and serves as a communications and community liaison, engaging in outreach, education, and advocacy to promote systemwide initiatives and enhance TGH’s brand and community impact. Since joining TGH in 2017, Cortney has contributed to the organization in multiple capacities — first as a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in the treatment of complex and chronic pain disorders, and later as Manager of Rehabilitative and Fitness Services, where she oversaw administrative, operational, and strategic initiatives across several departments, with a focus on expanding community access to outpatient services.
Cortney is deeply engaged in civic and professional leadership throughout the Tampa Bay region. She currently serves on the Tampa Bay Chamber Board of Directors Executive Committee and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay Advisory Council, and participates in Hillsborough County’s Internal Leadership Program, Backstage Pass. She is a graduate of the Leadership Tampa Class of 2024 and recipient of the 2024 Deanne Dewey Roberts Emerging Leader Award. Her previous community leadership roles include service on the American Cancer Society’s Associate Board of Ambassadors and Emerging Leaders of Tampa Bay Leadership team. Cortney has also served as a Mentor through the Tampa Bay Chamber’s Emerging Leaders Mentor/Protégé Program and Access Tampa Bay Program, and is currently actively involved in the Tampa Bay Chamber’s Policy Advisory Committee.
Cortney earned her Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of North Florida, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Florida. She has notably completed Tampa General Hospital’s internal leadership program LEAD TGH and the University of Tampa’s Modern Advances in Leadership program. Cortney resides in Seminole Heights with her husband, James, and their cats Luke, Leia, and Freddie.
