
Adam W. Thomas
CPA – FORVIS
Adam has close to 20 years of public accounting experience. He currently serves as partner in FORVIS’ Tampa Bay office, as well as an assurance partner with a focus on serving the following industry sectors: financial institutions, investment funds, and other asset management companies; technology companies; and private equity-backed portfolio companies across a diverse group of industries.
Prior to joining FORVIS, he worked with an international accounting firm serving community and regional banks in Alabama and Georgia ranging from $150 million to $40 billion in total assets, in addition to public and private technology companies, and various other industries.
Adam’s financial services industry experience includes internal controls (both FDICIA and SOX), various ALLL models, SBA lending, and business combinations (including FDIC-assisted acquisitions). He also works on internal audits and SEC reporting, and he has supported many clients through merger and acquisition activities. Adam also has experience working with technology companies, maintaining a focus in fintech companies, including analyzing revenue recognition for software, hardware, and other multiple-element arrangements. For asset management companies, he has experience with various types of investment funds, including hedge funds, private equity funds and common trust funds, family offices, and trust departments providing audit, custody rule compliance, SSAE 16 reporting, and internal control/internal audit services.
He is a frequent contributor to industry publications and presents at industry conferences on emerging issues and trends. He is an active member of the local community, including a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Raleigh program and the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Leadership Tampa program.
Adam is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Alabama Society of CPAs, Florida Institute of CPAs, GSCPA, and North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He was a Tampa Bay 40 Under 40 honoree in 2018. He is a member of the Samford University Accounting Program Professional Advisory Board. He is a member of the Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia Bankers Associations.
He is a graduate of Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama, with a B.S. degree in business administration and an M.Acc. degree.
