The Skills Center
Celeste Roberts is dedicated to helping others... especially young people. Her dedication to assisting children and teens mature into adults with upward economic mobility has become more than just a career – it’s her passion.
She is the President and CEO at The Skills Center, a sport-based youth development & education non-profit organization that intentionally utilizes the power of sports to create change through academic success, life skills, and mentoring for youth ages 3 to 18. Celeste is eager to help young people learn how to transfer lessons learned through athletics to everyday life – just as she learned by participating in high school sports.
Mrs. Roberts has more than 30 years of experience working with non-profit organizations in Florida and Ohio. Her career spans working at the United Way of Hillsborough County, the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay, IMPACTS Consulting and the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority in Cleveland, Ohio.
The exceptional programs implemented throughout her career lead to the creation of The Skills Center. She co-founded the organization with partners Chris Ward and John Arroyo in 2007. Celeste provides the leadership, vision and strategic direction for the organization. Her goal is to improve the educational outcomes, economic prospects and life options for young people through the power of sports. Most recently, Celeste is scaling the organization and spearheading a $23.5M development project to create equity in education, health and job training for young people in Tampa.
She was most recently recognized for her work in the Tampa community by the Tampa Bay Business Journal Women of the Year honoree, Tampa Organization of Black Affairs’ Ike Tribble Civic Leadership Award and the Florida Trend’s 2023 Florida 500 Executive Leaders Award . Celeste holds an MBA and lives with her husband, Ken and daughter, Kennedy in Tampa, Florida.
