Deanne King

News Anchor & Reporter, WFLA News Channel 8

Deanne King is a proud southern gal who was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida. Deanne is an alumna of the University of South Florida where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Broadcast News.

Deanne is an award-winning journalist who joined the WFLA News Channel 8 team in December 2019. She is a morning co-anchor and traffic anchor for WFLA, as well as the “For the Culture” reporter on WFLA’s morning show.

Deanne’s "For the Culture" segment highlights the great work minorities are doing across the Tampa Bay area. These stories also expose issues of racial discrimination and racial injustices happening in our area. Deanne is also the co-host of the award winning, WFLA podcast; Rooted in Progress. The weekly show brings in guests and leaders to address issues facing the Black community across Tampa Bay while also discussing solutions. 

Deanne is very involved in the Tampa community. She is a former Board of Director for the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay and works with the Tampa Bay Fashion Experience. She also volunteers with over a dozen organizations, schools and mentors several young men and women. Deanne serves as a host, emcee and keynote speaker for several small and large-scale events. Being of service to the community is a passion for Deanne. She is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. 

Deanne has won over a dozen awards for her journalistic skills; however, she says the best award she’s ever been granted was the ‘Best Tee-Tee’ award by her nieces.
