Joyce Cotton

Director of Marketing & Community Partnership at WEDU /PBS TV

With an esteemed career spanning five decades in the broadcast television industry, Joyce Cotton has demonstrated unparallelled expertise in marketing, community engagement and corporate partnerships.

She began her journey at Scripps Howard Broadcasting, WEWS ABC 5 in Cleveland and dedicated 25 years to television traffic and sales before retiring from WFTS ABC 28. Embracing a new chapter in the nonprofit sector, Joyce joined WEDU PBS, where she currently serves as Director of Marketing and Community Partnerships.

In this role, Joyce is instrumental in fostering corporate and nonprofit collaborations, spearheading multi-media marketing campaigns that enhance brand awareness and community engagement. She actively seeks funding through corporate and nonprofit sponsorships that support WEDU PBS’ locally and nationally produced programming, digital and social media efforts, member publications, award winning WEDU special events, and educational outreach initiatives.  Her commitment extends beyond media to include advocacy for the arts, cultural preservation, and historic documentaries that connect Tampa Bay’s history to other communities around the state.

A devoted community leader, Joyce has been an active figure in the Tampa Bay region for nearly 40 years.

Joyce is a long-time Board Member for Friends of Tampa Union Station. Founded in 2008, Friends of Tampa Union Station, Inc. is a grassroots, all-volunteer, nonprofit organization whose  primary purpose is to preserve, protect, and promote Tampa Union Station as a community asset and a historical asset. 

She also currently serves on the Board of Directors for Creative Pinellas, Ruth Eckerd Hall, Suncoast Hospice Hillsborough County, Tampa Museum of Art, The Florida Orchestra, UTampa Sykes School of Business Advisory Committee and the City of Tampa Mayor’s Autism Friendly Advisory Committee.

A recognized leader, Joyce was recently honored as one of the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida’s 2025 Women of Distinction and The Woodson African American Museum of Florida’s 2025 First Ladies in African American History. Joyce was recognized as one of ONYX Magazine’s Women on the Move Class of 2022 and also a Tampa Bay Business Journal Businesswoman of the Year – Media (2004 & 2009)
