Major (Ret.) Dave T. McAleer

Military Family Employment Advocate and Career Coach – CareerSource Tampa Bay

Mr. McAleer served for 24 years in the United States Army, culminating his career as the Executive Officer of Human Resources at the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC).

Dave is the son of a U.S. Diplomat, and has moved 23 times in his life, visiting 30+ countries around the world. During his travels, he learned conversational French and Arabic, and was a French Translator for the Army during the U.S. Army’s REFORGER exercises.

In his current role at CareerSource Tampa Bay, Dave leads the one-on-one career coaching at MacDill Air Force Base at the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) office, coaching the Transitioning Military and Veteran job seekers from all the branches of service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, U.S. Space Force), who are supporting the premier military commands: USCENTCOM, USSOCUM, SOCCENT, and MARCENT.

Prior to this, Dave served as the Director of Recruiting for JSOC, and prior to that role, Dave served as the Director of Recruiting for the United States Army’s most elite Special Missions Unit. He deployed in 2005 to Iraq in that capacity, and was a member of General (Ret) Stanley McChrystal’s “Team of Teams.” As a U.S. Army Captain and Major, Dave spent 71 months straight in command, and is honored to have served with the finest servicemen and servicewomen in our Great Nation.

Dave holds a Master’s Degree from Webster University and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
