Makayla Buchanan serves as the Director of Early Learning and Literacy at the Florida Chamber Foundation, an organization leading Florida in future-focused research and operates as a catalyst for positive change. Makayla comes to the Foundation with a strong background in education philanthropy and nonprofit leadership, previously serving as CEO of the Clay Education Foundation and working statewide at the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations. Her expertise also extends to government affairs, having held roles focused on policy advocacy and political campaigns. She is a proud Florida Gator and holds a master’s degree in public policy.

Most importantly, though, Makayla is the daughter of two life-long public school educators, an Army wife, and a mom to Nora who soon will be 3. All this drives Makayla’s passion for improving educational outcomes and fostering economic prosperity for all Floridians.
