This premier election event gives voters an opportunity to meet candidates for all elected positions, from Congress to county commission. This biennial gathering is the pinnacle of election seats, drawing crowds of over 50 candidates and 350 constituents. 

Rules:

Registration/Candidate Tables:

  • Attendees may not change their table location or switch their location with another attendee.
  • Candidates can set up starting at 3:00pm on the day of the event. Candidate check in will be available at the venue.
  • There will be no candidate or amendment tables sold at the event.
  • Additional attendees must be registered at the guest rate.
  • Candidates can place items only on or directly behind their table. Items placed in other locations will be removed. Candidates will not be warned prior to the materials being discarded.
  • Only candidates who purchase tables will be included in the digital program. They can only place their materials on their purchased table. Candidates who do not buy a table, and set up materials at other locations, will have their materials discarded without warning.
  • Large signs on candidate tables must be parallel to the rear of the table. Signs cannot block the visual field of other tables. Chamber staff will ask candidates to remove or adjust items that violate this rule.
  • Tables are 8-feet long and include a table cloth. Candidates get two chairs with each table. They cannot bring extra chairs. Chairs cannot be placed on tables.
  • Candidates cannot set up tables outside the ballroom or in the event lobby.
  • Distribution of campaign materials is not allowed in the registration area.

 Straw Poll:

  • The straw poll will only be open to registered attendees who are of voting age (18 years and older). Chamber staff and volunteers who cannot visually determine the age of the attendee may ask for proof of the attendee’s age.
  • Campaign materials are not allowed in the room where the computer kiosks for straw polls are located. Chamber staff will dispose of any such materials without warning.
  • Voting runs from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The official time will be kept by the Chamber. Attendees waiting in line can still vote.
  • Following the computer lines clearing, Chamber staff will close the voting.
  • The ballot and results will be announced in the order in which they will appear on the August Primary Election ballot.

4:00 pm – Event begins, Straw Poll opens
5:00 pm – Welcome Remarks
6:00 pm – Straw Poll closes
6:30 pm – Straw Poll winners announced
7:00pm – Event ends
